Rick Mobley joined the Carroll University athletic staff in 1999 when he was appointed head men's soccer coach. The following year he was named director of sports information and in 2008 added the title of assistant athletic director. From 2005-2007 Mobley also coached the men's tennis team. His current titles include head men's soccer coach, assistant athletic director and director of athletic communications.

In 18 seasons as head men's soccer coach, Mobley's teams have compiled an overall record of 181-123-27 overall, including a 110-38-9 mark in Midwest Conference play. His Carroll teams qualified for the MWC tournament in 13-of-17 seasons (2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015).

The men's soccer program won their first-ever Midwest Conference Championship in 2008 then claimed back-to-back titles with a championship in 2009. The 2008 team went on to win the league's post season tournament and later advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 after winning the MWC Tournament and earning the league's automatic berth. In 2009, the Pioneers gained a Top 25 national ranking, getting as high as No. 12 in the NSCAA polls, and finished the campaign ranked No. 23. The 2010 team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament after a 2-1 overtime loss to No. 5 UW-Oshkosh while the Pioneers were eliminated from the 2011 tournament following a 3-1 loss to No. 7 St. Olaf College. In 2012 Carroll knocked off No. 12 Carleton College (1-0) in the NCAA Tournament first-round before falling to UW-Platteville 2-1 in round two.

Prior to coming to Carroll, Mobley played nine seasons of professional soccer - seven seasons of indoor soccer with the Milwaukee Wave and two seasons of outdoor soccer with the Charlotte Eagles. He was a member of the Wave's first championship team (1997-1998) and was voted the team's defender of the year in 1996 and 1997. He was named second-team All-National Professional Soccer League following the 1996-1997 campaign while finishing second in defender of the league voting. Mobley retired from the Wave following the 1998-1999 season due to injuries, and did so as the team's all-time leader in blocked shots. He was inducted into the Milwaukee Wave Hall of Fame on Jan. 13, 2013.

Mobley graduated from Campbell University with a degree in mass communication in 1993. He was a four-year starter on the NCAA Division I squad and was a three-year All-Big South Conference selection and an All-South Region honoree following his senior season in 1991.

Mobley, a Swansboro, N.C. native, now resides in Oak Creek, Wis. with wife Nicole and sons Nolan and Brady. He earned his Master's degree from Concordia University (Calif.) in Coaching and Athletic Administration with in August of 2013.
