(Waukesha, Wis.) - Carroll University will add men's and women's lacrosse for the start of the 2014-2015 academic year, announced Joe Baker, Director of Athletics.
Pioneers lacrosse teams will begin competing in the spring of 2015, increasing the number of Carroll's National Collegiate Athletic Association-sponsored athletics programs from 20 to 22.
"Lacrosse is a quickly emerging sport in the Midwest and we are excited to add it to our existing intercollegiate sports," said Baker. "We have investigated the potential for athletic growth over the past few years and believe now is the right time to add men's and women's lacrosse. We are confident we will provide a quality athletic environment to current and future student-athletes."
Current NCAA-sponsored women's sports at Carroll are volleyball, soccer, golf, tennis, cross country, swimming and diving, basketball, indoor track and field, softball, and outdoor track and field. Football, soccer, cross country, swimming and diving, basketball, indoor track and field, golf, tennis, baseball, and outdoor track and field are the current line-up of Pioneers men's sports.
Carroll will immediately begin a nationwide search to fill the staffing needs of both lacrosse teams.
