DUBUQUE, Iowa. - Senior guard
Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed five rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University women's basketball team lost to Simpson College 85-54 in the consolation game of the Loras Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 overall, trailed 38-28 at halftime and was outscored 28-7 in the third quarter - including a 19-5 run over the course of the opening seven minutes.
Freshman forward
Katie Rossetti (Wauconda, Ill.) followed with 11 points and six rebounds for Carroll, which made 12 of 17 free throws but converted only two baskets from 3-point range. Freshman point guard
Mallory Olszak (Crete, Ill.) and freshman guard/forward
Hailey Herriges (Kewaskum, Wis.) each had seven points with sophomore guard/forward
Hannah Kloehn (Marshfield, Wis.) adding six points.
