Coach Bliese was at Carroll for 15 years, from 1985-2000. During his tenure, he was the head men’s and women’s track and field coach as well as the cross country coordinator. Additionally, Bliese was the offensive coordinator for the Pioneers football team, where he coached Dave Weber ’88, a National Football League draftee in 1988. Throughout his years, he was a part of nine conference championships for Carroll—three in men’s track and field, two in women’s track and field, two in women’s cross country and two in football. In cross country, he coached 3 individual conference champions, more than 50 all-conference honorees, 2 national qualifiers, and 1 all-American. In track and field, he guided his student-athletes to more than 100 individual conference titles, more than 300 all-conference honors, more than 50 national qualifiers and 8 all-American performers, including 3 by Marni Lynn Wiggins ’01, a 2-time national champion.
