ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Senior guard
Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) had a team-high 19 points, six rebounds and two assists as the Carroll University women's basketball team lost to Augustana College 89-54 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Roy J. Carver Center on Saturday evening.
Carroll, which lost its second straight to drop to 2-4 in the conference standings and 5-10 overall, was outscored 47-21 in the first half - including what proved to be a key 27-9 margin in the decisive second quarter.
Freshman small forward
Delaney Sjong (Salem, Wis.) contributed 13 points with three 3-point baskets and team-best eight rebounds for the Pioneers, who made three 3-pointers, 7 of 14 free throws and shot 37.9 percent from field-goal range.
Freshman guard
Anna Menges (Manitowoc, Wis.) had 10 points and freshman forward
Katie Rossetti (Wauconda, Ill.) added seven points and seven rebounds for Carroll, which committed 26 turnovers.
Izzy Anderson scored a game-high 24 points with four 3-pointers to lead Augustana, which improved to 3-3 in conference and 10-5 overall.
The Vikings, who outrebounded Carroll 41-36, made 11 3-pointers, 10 of 17 free throws and shot 50.7 percent from the field.
