Vanessa Uitenbroek had an outstanding meet at the CCIW Outdoor Championships over the weekend, hosted by Augustana College, as she was named CCIW Women's Field Athlete of the meet for the Pioneers. She earned that distinction by winning an individual conference championship in the discus with a final-attempt throw of 50.88 meters (166-11) and finishing second in the shot put with a throw of 14.83 meters (48-8). Uitenbroek surpassed her own school record in the discus and established a new conference record in the process, breaking the prior league mark of 48.33 meters set by Carthage's Morgan Young in 2016. Uitenbroek also broke her own school record in shot put with the standout performance. She is seeded number one in NCAA Division-III in the discus and third in shot put.
