(Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University women's basketball team lost a Midwest Conference double overtime heartbreaker against Beloit College, 80-79.
 
Carroll held a 33-32 lead at halftime and extended its lead to seven points to end the third quarter.
 
The Pioneers opened the fourth quarter with a basket but the Lady Bucs came to life and went on a 10-0 run to lead 54-53 with 6:45 to play. Carroll responded with a 6-0 run to reclaim the lead. Beloit countered with an 8-0 run to lead by two points but CU's Emma Kopp hit a layup with seven seconds to play to force overtime.
 
Beloit held a slight advantage throughout the first overtime and led by three points with nine seconds to play following two free throws from BC's Shelby Kline. But, Kopp came through again, this time nailing a deep three pointer at the buzzer to force a second overtime.
 
The lead seesawed several times in the second overtime, the final time when Beloit's Tegan Rock scored on a layup with 29 seconds to play.
 
Both teams had possessions down the stretch. Beloit had a chance to ice the game at the free throw line but could not convert although they did come up with offensive rebounds to close out the game.
 
Kopp finished with a team-best 20 points while Brittany Groer added 19 points. Malory Christenson chipped in with 15 points while Brittney Wald and Morgan Lund added 11 and nine points, respectively.
 
Beloit's Lana Wiseman led all scorers with 25 points.
