ASHLAND, Wis. - Sabrina Georgeff contributed two first-half goals to lead the Carroll University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Northland College in a nonconference game at Ponzio Stadium on Monday evening.
Georgeff, a 5-foot-8 junior forward/midfielder from Naperville, Ill., scored what proved to be the winning goal on an unassisted shot at the 28:10 mark and followed with her second of the contest 34 seconds later off an assist from freshman midfielder Cassidy Conner (Paw Paw, Mich.).
Senior forward Casey Weyhrich (Arlington Heights, Ill.) added the final goal on an assist from junior forward/midfielder Jess Coia (Sugar Grove, Ill.) in the 49th minute.
It was the fourth straight victory and eighth shutout of the season for the Pioneers, who improved to 11-3-1 overall.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sabrina Sieger (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman goalkeeper Christina O' Block (Libertyville, Ill.) combined to preserve a shutout for Carroll, which outshot Northland 17-3, including an 11-2 shot-on-goal advantage.
The Pioneers have won six of their last seven games, combining to outscore their opponents by an impressive 16-3 margin.
Northland dropped to 8-5-1 overall.
