WHEATON, Ill. - Junior midfielder Kieran DeGroot (De Pere, Wis.) scored an unassisted goal in the 71st minute but the Carroll University men's soccer team lost to Wheaton College 3-1 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game Saturday evening.
It was the third consecutive conference loss for Carroll, which dropped to 0-3 in the league standings and 4-8-1 overall.
Wheaton, which improved to 1-2 in conference and 3-6-3 overall, scored two unanswered first-half goals to build momentum.
Senior forward David Clarke had two goals and junior defender Ben Bakke had the other one for Wheaton, which outshot the Pioneers 16-8 in the contest - including a key 6-2 shot-on-goal advantage.
Carroll sophomore goalkeeper Nick Drew (Milton, Wis.) had three saves in playing the entire 90 minutes.
