CHICAGO, Ill. - Junior guard Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) and sophomore guard Sara Hartl (Racine, Wis.) each scored a team-high 14 points as the Carroll University women's basketball team lost to North Park University 87-57 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game Saturday.
It was the seventh road loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 in the conference standings and 0-9 overall.
North Park led 38-29 at halftime and outscored the Pioneers 32-15 in what proved to be a decisive third quarter.
Freshman guard Caylee Koker (Kenosha, Wis.) followed with 12 points, three rebounds and two steals for Carroll, which made eight baskets from 3-point range and 15 of 20 free throws. Junior forward Morgan Lund (Mondovi, Wis.) had 11 points and five rebounds.
Wald also grabbed a team-best six rebounds for the Pioneers, which shot 33 percent from field-goal range and committed 20 turnovers.
Sophomore guard Alicia Arnold scored a game-high 21 points to lead North Park, which improved to 1-2 in conference and and 4-3 overall. Senior guard Hannah Rehfeldt chipped in 17 points with five 3-pointers, sophomore forward Gabby Sandoval had 12 points and senior guard Liz Rehberger added 11 points for the Vikings, who made eight 3-pointers and 17 of 24 free throws.
North Park, which shot 54 percent from the field, outrebounded the Pioneers 42-27 - maintaining a 30-19 advantage on the defensive glass.
