JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Carroll University men's soccer team played to a fierce 1-1 tie with Illinois College in a double-overtime nonconference game Sunday.
It was the first tie of the season for Carroll, 3-4-1 overall.
Sophomore midfielder Tlaloc Huerta (Delavan, Wis.) scored the first goal of the contest on an assist from freshman midfielder Ryan Effinger (West Allis, Wis.) in the 11th minute for the Pioneers, who outshot the Blueboys 16-12.
Illinois College answered as freshman forward/midfielder Brock Ziegemeier scored off a double assist from sophomore midfielder Ryan May and senior midfielder Brock Chartier in the 83rd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Drew (Milton, Wis.) played the entire 110 minutes of the marathon, contributing five saves for the Pioneers.
