JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore forward/mifielder Delaney Pruitt from Ringwood, Ill. scored what became the winning goal in the 55th minute as the Carroll University women's soccer team defeated Illinois College 3-2 in a nonconference game Sunday.
It was the first road victory for the Pioneers, who won their second consecutive game to improve to 4-2 overall.
Pruitt's game-winner came on a double assist from junior forward/midfielder Jess Coia (Sugar Grove, Ill.) and freshman midfielder Cassidy Conner (Paw Paw, Mich.) at the 55:20 mark.
Junior midfielder Tia Irish (De Pere, Wis.) scored Carroll's first goal off an assist from Pruitt in the fifth minute for Carroll, which outshot Illinois College 16-13.
Junior forward/midfielder Sabrina Georgeff (Naperville, Ill.) had the second goal and was assisted by sophomore defender Gina LaMacchia (Mequon, Wis.) in the 27th minute.
Sophomore Sabrina Sieger (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman Christina O' Block (Libertyville, Ill.) each played a 45-minute half at goalkeeper to combine for the victory.
Junior forward Ashley Sholmire and freshman forward/midfielder LeMarah Stratton each scored a goal for Illinois College, which suffered its first loss of the season to drop to 4-1 overall.
