The Pioneers fell to UW-Lacrosse 41-7 this afternoon. With the loss, Carroll drops to 0-3 on the year.
UW-Lacrosse struck first with 11:17 left in the 1st quarter, on a 39 yard touchdown pass from Joel Oxton to Ryan Kruser. Later in the first quarter, Lacrosse found the end zone again, with Trent Milliken tossing a 12 yard pass to Tarek Yaeggi to grab a 14-0 lead. With 13:38 left in the 2nd quarter, the Eagles extended their lead to 21-0 after scooping up a Pioneer fumble and scoring. The Pioneers trailed 28-0 at halftime.
In the first half, Carroll was lead by Kyle Burlingame, who was 8-14 for 74 yards. Bennett Kothe rushed 9 times, only gaining 17 yards against the strong UW-Lacrosse defense front. On the defensive side of the ball, Colin Shepley led the Pioneers with 5 tackles.
Carroll got their only points of the game, in the second half, on a 7 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Burlingame  to Brandon Ehrke with 4:27 left in the third quarter. Burlingame finished with 180 yards through the air, while Ehrke had 62 receiving yards and touchdown.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, October 1st, at 2 pm. The game is against Carthage, and will be the homecoming game for Carroll.
