Pioneers fall to Lake Forest, despite several great performances throughout

The Pioneers traveled to Lake Forest College to compete in a meet that saw the women (126-112) and men (126-81)  drop close contests against the Foresters.The men and women combined for nine first place finishes. along with five second place finishes.

James Kelly led the men, with two first place finishes. Kelly took first in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 25.05 seconds, while also taking first in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 55.36.

The other first place finishes for the men came from Aaron Talabac and Tyler Fencl. Talabac secured first in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:05.87, while Fencl grabbed first in the 800 meter freestyle  with a time of 10:27.08. Fellow Pioneer DJ Jaessing finished directly behind Fencl in the 800 meter freestyle, taking second with a time of 10:32.38.

Tristian Petrauskas secured the final second place finish for the men, taking second place in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:21.02.

Kaitlin Squier and Ally Osell lead the women, with both securing two first place finishes in their respective events. Squier secured first place in the 200 meter IM with a time of 2:39.09, while also takingfirst in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:20.22). Osell's first place finishes both came in the diving portion of the meet, with a first place finish in the 1 meter dive (219.50) and the 3 meter dive (243.15).

Following Squier in the 100 meter breaststroke, were two fellow Pioneers. Dani Clark finished the race in 1:26.03, good for second place, while Allie Kriegler finished in third with a time of 1:29.20.

Lindsey Coons and Jordan Andrews both secured a first place and a second place finish for the Pioneers. Coons took first in the 100 meter backstroke (1:09.07) with Andrews right behind her in second (1:09.95). Andrews took first in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 29.22, while Coons took second in the 800 meter freestyle with a time of 2:17.42.

The women's other top two finish came from Marissa Stacy, as she took second in the 100 meter butterfly (1:12.5).

The Pioneers will be back in the pool on November 8, as they travel to Carthage College to faceoff against Carthage and North Central. The meet is set to start at 6 pm.
