WHEATON, Ill. - The Carroll University men's soccer team lost to Wheaton College 2-0 in a windy College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Joe Bean Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was the fourth consecutive conference for the young, hard-working Pioneers, who dropped to 0-4 in the league standings and 0-11-2 overall.
Wheaton, which improved to 3-2 in conference and 8-4-1 overall, scored both of its goals in the first half to ensure a victory.
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Melgar scored what proved to be the winning goal off an assist from junior forward Peter Whallon at the 20:59 mark for the Thunder, who outshot Carroll 15-10 in the physical contest - including a key 6-2 shot-on-goal advantage.
Junior defender Chad Miller added the other goal on an assist from junior forward Misekar Wingate in the 41st minute.

Charlie Coenen (Little Chute, Wis.) each had a shot on goal for Carroll, which struggled to capitalize on five corner kicks - including three opportunities in the second half.

Connor Thompson (Kent, Wash.) each contributed two saves in playing a half at goalkeeper for the Pioneers.
