WAUKESHA, Wis. - Freshman forward
Katie Rossetti (Wauconda, Ill.) contributed a team-high 10 points with two 3-point baskets, five rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal but the Carroll University women's basketball team lost to second-place Wheaton College 62-39 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Van Male Field House on Wednesday night.
It was the third straight loss for Carroll, which dropped to 4-10 in the conference standings and 7-16 overall.
The Pioneers were outscored 33-19 in the first half, including what became a decisive 18-7 margin in the second quarter.
Senior guard
Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) followed with five points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal for Carroll, which made three 3-pointers, 10 of 17 free throws and shot 25.5 percent from field-goal range. Wald, a second-team all-conference selection last year currently has 952 points and is attempting to become only the 16th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point career mark.

Rachel Van Sluys (Sheboygan, Wis.), freshman small forward
Delaney Sjong (Salem, Wis.) and freshman guard
Anna Menges (Manitowoc, Wis.) each chipped in five points. Freshman point guard
Emily Majerus (Plymouth, Wis.) added four points, a team-best five assists and two steals.
Senior guard Maggie Dansdill scored a team-high 14 points to lead Wheaton, which improved to 13-2 in conference and 20-4 overall. Sophomore forward Hannah Frazier and sophomore center Jill Berg each added 12 points for the Thunder, who made six 3-pointers, 6 of 9 free throws and shot 41.7 percent from the field.
Wheaton, which has earned a berth in the upcoming CCIW Tournament, outrebounded the Pioneers 46-31 - including a 35-25 advantage on the defensive glass.
