KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Carthage College 1-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin opener at Art Keller Field on Saturday night.
It was the second one-goal loss of the season for Carroll, which remains on a determined quest for its first victory of the year but dropped to 0-8-1 overall.
Carthage, which improved to 4-4 overall, responded with what became the eventual winning goal as junior midfielder Jeff Montemayor scored on header following a corner kick from senior midfielder Adrian Herrera at the 68:52 mark.
Despite being outshot 20-14 in the physical battle, Carroll demonstrated its toughness by maintaining an 8-6 shot-on-goal advantage.
