Carroll claims fourth consecutive victory

Hess scores winning goal in 48th minute in win over St. Norbert

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Sophomore forward Erika Hess (Green Bay, Wis.) scored what became the eventual winning goal off a double assist from freshman midfielder Sophia Cuttill (Oshkosh, Wis.) and sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Zanon (Waukesha, Wis.) at the 47:49 mark as the Carroll University women's soccer team defeated St. Norbert College 2-1 in a hard-fought, tension-filled nonconference game at Schneider Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for Carroll, which improved to 4-1 overall on the early season following the confidence-building performance versus its former longtime Midwest Conference rival.
The inspired victory took on added significance as it was the Pioneers' fourth straight victory over St. Norbert dating back to 2016.
Carroll, which outshot St. Norbert 12-5 including a key 7-5 shot-on-goal advantage, scored the opening goal of the game as Zanon finished on an assist from Hess in the 12th minute.
St. Norbert tied the game as junior midfielder Lisa Beine converted an unassisted shot at the 35:07 mark, setting the stage for Hess' second-half game-winner.
Senior goalkeeper Christina O' Block (Libertyville, Ill.) registered three critical saves in playing the entire 90 minutes for Carroll.
