Waukesha, Wis. – The Carroll University men's and women's swimming and diving teams secured victories over the Millikin Big Blue squads in a virtual meet on Jan 23, 2021. For the men, this marks their first dual win since 2017, and revenge for the women who lost by just five points to Millikin a year ago. Both programs celebrated the six seniors on the team as well.
On the men's side, a first place finish was posted in four events, including two from sophomore
Thaddeus Scott in the 500-yard free (5:38.47) and the 1000-yard free (11:29.62). Freshmen
David Gonzales Jr took home the gold in the 200-yard freestyle with a sub 2 minute time (1:58.86), and transfer
Brennen McClay earned a victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.77.
For the women, four women in four events were victorious. Coming off her conference championship in the event, senior
Lindsey Coons earned a victory with a 1:00.30 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Jordan Andrews picked up a win in a loaded 50-yard freestyle event with a 25.94.
Ingrid Hay smashed the competition by four seconds with a win in the 200-yard IM (2:18.90), and distance swimmer
Amanda Klaeser posted a 5:41.6 in the 500-yard freestyle good enough for first place.
The men and women get a break until Feb. 5
th when they take on Carthage and Illinois Wesleyan in a tri-meet held in Kenosha, Wis.
