WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's bowling team will make its first ever compeititon appearance on Friday, October 22 at the 2021 Bearcat Open hosted by McKendree College.

Courtney Ermisch says she's ready for this group to get started at one of the largest tournaments in the region, "We want to get their feet wet" says Ermisch "We want them to learn the sport the right way, by showing how the top teams prepare."
With nine newcomers to the program, the nerves are understandably high, "We are very excited to represent Carroll University's first ever women's bowling team, but at the same time we are very nervous and don't know what to expect" says Freshman
Alexis Ciesemier. "We are going into this weekend with a positive attitude and mindset."
In women's bowling the Pioneer will play competition in traditional scoring and baker scoring. In traditional scoring, five bowlers make up a team, and each bowl 10-frame games against another school. The team with the highest cumulative score between their five will win the game. In baker scoring, each of the five bowlers will bowl tow the 10 frames in a matchup with another team. The highest 10-frame score between the two teams will be named the winner.
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin adopted women's bowling as its 25
th championship sport in 2020-21. Other teams in the conference include primary members Augustana, Carthage, Elmhurst, Illinois Wesleyan, North Central, and affiliate members Aurora, Lakeland, and Marian (WI). The 2022 CCIW Women's Bowling Championship will be held February 5-6, and March 5-6, 2022 in Naperville, Illinois.
