WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's tennis team swept Elmhurst University 9-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex on Friday.
It was the first conference victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 1-2 in the league standings and 2-3 overall following the statement-making home-opener.
Grace Krueger won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to lead the Pioneers, defeating Elmhurst's Julia Kostadinova 6-1, 6-2.
Ashley LaBelle at No. 2,
Sophia Dekker at No. 3,
Maya Gaedtke at No. 4,
Madison Ostrander at No. 5 and
Carolyn Merkatoris at No. 6 each followed with a straight-set victory.
The No. 1 doubles team of Krueger and LaBelle posted an 8-2 win.
The No. 2 tandem of Dekker and Gaedtke and No. 3 duo of Ostrander and
Rachel Papp each added a victory to round out the dominant effort.
