BELOIT, Wis. – The Carroll University men's soccer team dropped a close battle against non-conference opponent Beloit on Wednesday night on the road. The Pioneers fell 1-2 on a penalty kick in the 84
th minute of the game. Sophomore
Ethan Pequignot scored the lone Pioneer goal in the 63
rd minute of the contest.
The Pioneers (0-1-0, 0-0-0 CCIW) Played physical in the second half, leading to five yellow cards and an ejection. Despite falling, the Pioneers outshot the Bucs 17-3 in the second half alone and recorded seven shots on goal. Sophomore
Jacob Bozek recorded one save in the contest on three shots on eight shots faced.
The Pioneers found themselves down 1-nill in the 32
nd minute of the contest. The Pios came out in the second half pushing, ramping up their possession on the attacking side of the field. Pequignot was able to push inside of the box and place one upper left of the goal to tie the match and give some energy back to the team. A penalty in the box forced a late PK that eventually went on to end the contest at the 84
th minute mark.
The Pioneers head to Michigan early next week with a bout against Olivet College.
