Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. – The Carroll University women's soccer team took care of business on Saturday night, defeating Elmhurst University by a score of 5-0.
Grace Tumilty scored twice in the win while
Elizabeth Weinberg assisted twice.
The Pioneers (8-2-1, 2-0 CCIW) move to 2-0 in the conference with their second-consecutive CCIW shutout. Other Pioneer goal scorers include Simone Lippman,
Brielle Ingalsbee, and
Megan Smekrud. Carroll scored just one goal in the first half but exploded for their final four in the second 45 minutes.
In the 9
th minute, Tumilty put the Pios up off a pass from Weinberg. In the second half, Weinberg assisted again on a goal to Lippman. Not 10 minutes later, Lippman's shot attempt was deflected and rebounded right to Ingalsbee for the 3-0 score. Tumilty worked past a charging keeper and snuck a second goal past the defender in the net with just over 20 minutes to play in the game. Smekrud added the nail in the coffin in the 88
th minute.
Carroll hosts Carthage College on Wednesday night, October 5 at Schneider Stadium for their third straight CCIW contest.
