Carroll plays for mental health awareness on a cold Waukesha night

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's soccer team moved past the Lawrence University Vikings on Wednesday night, defeating them 6-0. The Pioneers held their first annual Green Game in conjunction with The Hidden Opponent organization, as the program raised funds towards advocating for student-athlete mental health.

The Pioneers (9-3-4) recorded a season-high 34 shots tonight, with 16 shots on goal. Grace Tumilty tied her career-high in shots with 10, scoring three assists. Elizabeth Weinberg led the team in scoring and points, with two goals and an assist for five points. The Pios tallied 10 corner kicks, and held the ball for over 63% of the game. Caitlin Fitzsimons, Isabella Toberman, and Nevaeh Darby all combined for a shutout, as the group only faced one shot all night.

Carroll took possession of the game quickly, and took six shots and four corner kicks before the first goal went through at the 19 minute mark on a Weinberg dart 20 yards out on a pass from Tumilty. Brielle Ingalsbee scored unassisted in the 27th minute, and Tumilty assisted on one more goal of the first half after a shot off the cross bar, this one going to Maci Bernier.

Carroll moved quickly in the second half to make it a 5-0 ball game. Tumilty assisted on a goal to Simone Lippman in the 48th minute, and Weinberg got her second of the night on a deep cross from Ingalsbee.
