Grace Krueger won in straight sets at No. 1 singles as the Carroll University women's tennis team swept Illinois Wesleyan 9-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the second sweep of the season for Carroll, which won its third straight dual to improve to 2-4 in the conference standings and 6-4 overall.
The Pioneers won four singles matches in straight sets, led by Krueger's 6-0, 6-1 victory over Illinois Wesleyan's Kate Christian.
Krueger also combined with teammate
Ashley LaBelle at No. 1 doubles for an 8-0 victory, defeating Christian and Andie Wilson 8-0.
With the strong performance, Krueger surpassed the prestigious 100-victory career milestone (combining singles and doubles), becoming just the fourth player in program history to accomplish the memorable feat.
Krueger, a graduate student from Geneva, Ill., is 3-2 overall in both singles and doubles competition this season.
LaBelle (No. 2),
Sophia Dekker (No. 3) and
Maya Gaedtke (No. 4) each added a straight-set victory for the Pioneers.
Aalaiya Jacklin (No. 5) and
Madison Ostrander (No. 6) each won by forfeit.
Dekker and Jacklin teamed up for an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles for Carroll. The No. 3 doubles team of Ostrander and Gaedtke also won by forfeit.
