WAUKESHA, Wis. – The #4 seeded Carroll University women's soccer team appears in their third CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals game in program history on Wednesday, November 2. The Pioneers are facing the #1 seeded, and CCIW Champion, Illinois Wesleyan.

Last weekend, Carroll defeated the #5 seeded Augustana Vikings 1-0 in 2OT on Saturday, October 29 at Schneider Stadium. Simone Lippmann won the game with a goal in the 99th minute off a pass from Elizabeth Weinberg. It marked the first CCIW tournament win in program history for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers and Titans played to a 1-1 earlier this season in Bloomington. Weinberg scored the game's opening goal in the 13th minute off a pass from Grace Tumilty, but the Titans responded in the 26th minute. Both teams held strong in the second half. Carroll took 12 shots in the first half but the Titans responded with 12 shots of their own in the second. Caitlin Fitzsimons recorded 10 saves while facing 18 shots, both of which are season-highs. Weinberg led the Pioneers with five shots.

The winner of this matchup will move on to the 2022 CCIW Women's Soccer Championship game. Carroll's last conference tournament championship win was back in 2015 when the Pioneers were in the Midwest conference. The Titan's last CCIW Tournament title was in 2019.
