Pioneers Wrap Up Season in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carroll university women's soccer team fell in the 2022 CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament Semifinals to the No. 1 seeded Illinois Wesleyan Titans by a score of 0-4.

The Pioneers (11-4-5) finished with 10 shots to the Titans' 14. Grace Tumilty led the Pioneers with four total shots. Carroll struggled to maintain possession of the ball, holding it for just 48% of the game.

Both the Titans and the Pioneers went back in forth in terms of possession of the ball in the first half. The Titans were able to lead in shots that were end-of-life attempts. The Titans got on the board first with a free kick set piece just inside midfield. A deep shot from 30 yards out late in the first half put the Titans up 2-0 at halftime.

Both of the Titan's second-half goals got past the Carroll backline on cross attempts, as the Titans began to take control of the possession. Carroll registered its first shot on goal in the second half but was unable to phase the backup keeper for the Titans.
