WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's tennis team swept Wisconsin Lutheran College 9-0 in a nonconference dual meet at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the first sweep of the season for Carroll, which celebrated Homecoming Week by winning its second straight to improve to 5-4 overall.
Ashley LaBelle won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to help lead the Pioneers, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran's Katelynn Haskell 6-0, 6-2 to earn her second consecutive victory and improve to 2-4 overall.
Grace Krueger (No. 2),
Sophia Dekker (No. 3) and
Erin Horzewski (No. 6) each followed with a straight-set victory for Carroll.
Madison Ostrander (No. 4) and
Kaitlin Brandl (No. 5) each overcame a one-set deficit and pulled out a three-set victory.
Ostrander outlasted Wisconsin Lutheran's Sky Pope 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. Brandl defeated Mary Meghrian 4-6, 6-3, 10-1.
LaBelle and Krueger won at No. 1 doubles 8-0 for the Pioneers. Dekker and
Aalaiya Jacklin claimed an 8-2 victory at No. 2 with the No. 3 team of Ostrander and
Makayla Counsell completing the sweep with an 8-1 victory.
