BLOOMINGTON, Ill - Carroll's women's tennis team completed a perfect 3-0 week Sunday morning with a 7-2 victory at Illinois Wesleyan, as the Pioneers earned their second team victory in as many days. Carroll won all three doubles matches against the Titans by a combined score of 24-11, while also winning four of the six singles matches on the day.
In doubles play, Carroll's number one team of
Natasa Pupovac and Madison Osrander had their work cut out for them, but got the job done with an 8-7 (7-0) victory. The Pios' number two team of
Kaitlin Brandl and
Makayla Counsell won 8-0, while the number three team of
Maya Gaedtke and
Katherine Trifilio won by a score of 8-4.
Gaedtke was also victorious at number two singles, winning 6-2, 7-6 (7-0), while Ostrander won at the fourth flight 6-3, 6-4. Also winning their singles match was Brandl, with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the number five flight, and Counsell, winning 6-1, 6-0 at the sixth flight.
The win brings the Pioneers back to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall (3-3 CCIW). They will be in action again on Thursday when they'll host Elmhurst College. That match will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex in Waukesha, Wis.
