Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Can't Get Past Bluejays

Waukesha, Wis. – The Carroll University men's soccer team dropped their second straight CCIW game as they fell 2-3 to Elmhurst. Carroll was led by senior Josh Gonzaga, who recorded two shots and a goal in 75 minutes of play.

The Pioneers (5-7) took 10 shots, with three being on target. Carroll committed 16 fouls throughout the course of the game. Sophomore Jesper Johannassen faced 14 shots, seven of them being on target. Johannassen was able to make four saves, while giving up three goals.

To open the game Carroll looked ready to go as Zane Walters played a great ball to Gonzaga, who would score in the first 5 minutes of the game. The Pioneers would look to keep the pressure up but would find themselves in a back-and-forth battle with the gritty Bluejays. In the 32' minute Elmhurst would find the back of the net to even things up 1-1. Elmhurst would gain some momentum and find the back of the net for the second time to a take 1-2 lead going into the half.

Coming out of the half, Carroll looked to get back into the game. They did just that as Marti Solanellas would find David Serra Dizy coming across the middle. Serra Dizy would score and even things up in the 50' minute mark of the game. Elmhurst would respond quickly, scoring just seven minutes later to take back the lead. Carroll would get four more looks before the final three whistles but would not be able to capitalize on them and fall 2-3.

Carroll looks to get back on track as they host Illinois Wesleyan at Schnider Stadium on Saturday, October 7th, at 3:30 PM.
