Carroll Climbs Into Top 25 For First Time This Season

For the first time this season, the Carroll University women's basketball team has appeared in the weekly D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. Winners of eight straight, the Pioneers received 51 total votes, which puts them at number 25 in the most recent poll, just 12 votes shy of the 24th-ranked team. This marks the first time the Pios have appeared in the Top 25 since the 2007-08 season (16 years).

Carroll currently holds a 13-3 overall record, and hasn't lost since December 2. The Pioneers are also 5-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), placing them second in the conference standings, just one game shy of #8 Illinois Wesleyan.

Among the national leaders in many different statistical categories, Carroll ranks third in all of NCAA Division-III in assists per game (19.4), field goal percentage (.487), and 3-point percentage (.384), while also ranking 10th in scoring (79.8 ppg). Individually, junior Olivia Rangel ranks in the top 30 in the country in assists per game (4.8) and field goals (110), while also leading the Pioneers in scoring (17.7 ppg) and rebounds (3.9 rpg). Sophomore Emilie Wizner currently leads the CCIW and ranks fifth in D-III in 3-point percentage (.481).

The Pioneers will try to keep things rolling on Wednesday when they'll host Carthage College at 7 p.m. inside Van Male Fieldhouse in Waukesha, before their showdown with #8 Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday's 'Alumni Day'.
