WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University swimming competed in a dual meet against UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, with both the men's and women's teams showing grit and strong individual performances despite falling in the team scores. The Pioneer men totaled 59 points, while the women scored 57, as UW-Oshkosh claimed wins on both sides.
Women's Recap
Carroll's women delivered several standout swims, highlighted by Erin Fixen and Carigan Tabor in the distance events. Fixen placed second in the 1650-yard freestyle (20:04.15), followed closely by Tabor in third (20:05.38). In the 500 free, Kendal Richard earned third with a time of 5:57.67, and Addison Wherley added a fourth-place finish.
The Pioneers also had strong relay efforts, with the A squad of Natalie Oldenburg, Clarissa Sharpe, Alexandria Ostopowicz, and Kendal Richard taking third in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:02.42). Oldenburg led the backstroke group, finishing third in the 200 back (2:26.79), while Hannah Arce and Skyler Sanderson contributed points in the breaststroke events. In diving, Nevaeh Clayton and Alexandria Ostopowicz scored in the 1-meter competition.
Men's Recap
On the men's side, Paden Moore claimed Carroll's lone event win, taking first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:24.34. Moore also scored in the 100 fly, finishing third (57.35). Thomas Rynne had a strong meet in the backstroke, placing second in the 200 back (2:11.20) and fourth in the 100 back (59.78). Jonah Lotegeluaki added key points with a fourth-place finish in the 100 free (52.57) and third in the 100 fly.
Carroll's A relay of Jacob Rossi, Lotegeluaki, Gavin Buechel, and Eli Griggs LeRoux finished second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:33.12), while Buechel also scored in the 200 free (1:59.08). Mannon Stern led the distance group with third in the 500 free (5:52.14) and third in the 1650 (20:08.07).
Despite the team results, the Pioneers showed depth and competitiveness across strokes and distances, setting the tone for continued improvement as the season progresses.
Carroll returns to action on Saturday, November 1, hosting a home meet at Van Male Natatorium against Millikin.
