Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Carroll Falls Short in Road Test Against Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Carroll University men's soccer battled hard but came up short in a 1-0 loss to undefeated Lake Forest College on Tuesday evening at Mohr Field. The Pioneers dropped to 3-4-0 on the season despite a disciplined defensive effort and several quality scoring chances.

Lake Forest netted the game's only goal in the 25th minute, as Finn Gruver finished a well-placed ball assisted by Nathan Kostovetsky and Sam Satisky. Carroll responded with seven total shots, including three on target, but couldn't find the equalizer.

Midfielders Nico Hinten and Marti Solanelles led the attack with three shots each, while Sheridan Joseph added another attempt. Carroll earned four corner kicks and committed just six fouls, maintaining composure throughout the match.

Goalkeeper Uriel Garcia was solid between the posts, recording four saves and keeping the Pioneers within striking distance. The Carroll defense held Lake Forest to just one goal despite 12 total shots and five on frame.

The second half saw Carroll push forward with urgency, including a late shot from Solanelles that was saved by Kyle Demmon. The match featured yellow cards for Peter Cirbo of Lake Forest and Nathan Patzer of Carroll, along with a combined 11 fouls.

Despite the result, Carroll showed resilience and tactical discipline against a team that improved to 8-0-0. The Pioneers will look to build on the defensive effort and sharpen their finishing as they prepare for conference play in their next match against North Central in Naperville at 2pm this Saturday.
