Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pioneers Strike Early, Hold Off Platteville for 2-1 Victory

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll University women's soccer earned a gritty 2-1 win over Wisconsin-Platteville on Tuesday night at Schneider Stadium, improving to 3-1-3 on the season.

Freshman Addie Decker opened the scoring in the 30th minute, converting a pass from Harlie Seuser for her first collegiate goal. Just three minutes later, Naomy Gonzalez added her second goal of the season off an assist from Ellie Patrickus, giving Carroll a 2-0 lead heading into halftime with both goals coming from exceptionally placed shots.

The Pioneers controlled the first half with a 10-7 shot advantage and four corner kicks, while goalkeeper Ava Lewandowski anchored the defense with six saves.

Wisconsin-Platteville responded in the second half with a penalty kick goal from Elise Kukuck in the 66th minute, but Carroll's defense held strong to preserve the lead. Lewandowski made several key stops late to secure the result. Carroll's defense played tough throughout, as this was a very physical game from the start. With multiple yellow cards handed out, the Pioneers kept their composure and came through down the stretch.

Carroll finished with seven shots on goal and 57% possession, showcasing a balanced attack and disciplined defending, while Decker and Gonzalez provided the finishing touch.

The Pioneers return to action later this week looking to build on the momentum of six consecutive unbeaten match ups as they take on North Central in Naperville this Saturday at 11am in what will be their first CCIW tilt of the season.
