WAUKESHA, Wis. – A pair of standout performances at the Gene Davis Invitational earned junior Julian Bica Harrison and freshman Allena O'Connell this week's Pioneers of the Week honors.
Bica Harrison (Fall Creek, Wis.) led the way for Carroll men's cross country in the 8,000-meter race, crossing the finish line in 27:53.4. The junior placed 40th overall and 25th among scoring runners, finishing as the Pioneers' top runner at the meet. His performance led Carroll's lineup as the Pioneers finished seventh in the team standings with 181 points.
O'Connell (Reedsville, Wis.) continued her impressive freshman campaign with another strong showing for the Carroll women. She completed the 6,000-meter course in 22:48.8, placing fifth overall and second among scoring collegiate runners. O'Connell's performance helped Carroll finish fourth as a team with 71 points.
The performance added another highlight to an already impressive opening season for O'Connell, who previously captured the Green Knight Open individual title with a 23:31.2 and earned CCIW Runner of the Week honors earlier in her freshman campaign.
The Pioneers cross country teams will turn their attention to this weekend at the Augustana Invite as they head to Rock Island to compete on both sides.
