Pioneers Make History on the Boards at CCIW Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. – Carroll University diving delivered a performance for the record books during the 1-meter competition at the 2026 CCIW Swimming & Diving Championships, turning in three lifetime-best performances and producing historic finishes that marked a major step forward for the Pioneer program.

On the men's side, freshman Dawson Schultz made an immediate impact in his conference championship debut. Entering the meet seeded ninth, Schultz held his position and posted a score of 265.25, securing a ninth-place finish. The result marked the highest individual men's diving finish for Carroll since rejoining the CCIW, setting a new standard for the program at the conference level.

Schultz's performance highlighted a consistent and composed effort across both voluntary and optional dives, as he delivered a lifetime-best score on the conference stage and signaled a bright future for the Carroll men's diving squad.

The Carroll women also made program history in the 1-meter event, producing a feat not accomplished in more than a decade. For the first time in over ten years, Carroll placed two women in scoring positions at the same CCIW championship event.

Sophomore Alexandria Ostopowicz moved up from her eighth-place seed to finish seventh with a score of 266.55, delivering a gritty performance to secure critical points for the Pioneers. Freshman Nevaeh Clayton followed with a 10th-place finish at 238.75, holding her seed position and rounding out a dominant showing for the Carroll women. Both divers recorded lifetime-best performances during the meet.

Overall, Carroll's three divers combined for lifetime-best scores while competing against the conference's top athletes, giving the program its most scoring women's divers and highest men's finish at the CCIW Championships since rejoining the league.

The Pioneer swimmers will continue conference championship action next week, competing from February 18–21, as Carroll looks to build momentum off the divers' standout performances.
