Senior Day Win Sends Carroll Women’s Tennis Out in Style

WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University women's tennis team closed out the 2026 season on a high note Sunday afternoon, earning a 6–1 victory over Illinois Tech on Senior Day in the final match of the year.

Carroll set the tone early in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to secure the opening point. Natasa Pupovac and Mia Franke earned a 6–4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Makayla Counsell and Katherine Trifilio followed with a 6–3 victory at No. 3. The No. 1 pairing of Aalaiya Jacklin and Nawal Souki battled to a tight tiebreak before falling, leaving Carroll with a 1–0 advantage heading into singles.

The Pioneers carried that momentum into singles, winning five of six matches to clinch the team victory. Pupovac delivered a comeback win at No. 1 singles, rebounding from a first-set loss to take the match in a third-set tiebreak. Trifilio secured a straight-sets win at No. 2, while Franke followed with a 6–1, 6–3 victory at No. 3.

Additional singles wins came from Jacklin, who battled through three sets at No. 4, and Counsell, who earned a decisive straight-sets victory at No. 5. Erin Horzewski rounded out the scoring with a dominant 6–1, 6–0 win at No. 6.

With the Senior Day win, Carroll finished the season with a 10–10 overall record, closing the year with a complete team performance on its home courts.
