WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University men's soccer collected its first victory of the 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Concordia Wisconsin 2-0 at Schneider Stadium behind a pair of first-half goals and a strong defensive effort.
The Pioneers controlled the opening half and broke through in the 10th minute when Iskander Sharipov finished a chance created by Sheridan Joseph to put Carroll ahead 1-0. Carroll continued to apply pressure throughout the half, generating eight shots and three corner kicks during the opening 45 minutes. Sharipov was involved again in the 36th minute, this time setting up Obada Altahat on a free kick for the Pioneers' second goal of the afternoon and a 2-0 advantage.
Concordia Wisconsin pushed forward after halftime, outshooting Carroll 8-3 in the second half and earning six corner kicks, but the Pioneers' defense stood tall. Goalkeeper Angel Escamilla made five of his six saves after the break, including a penalty kick stop in the 78th minute to preserve the shutout.
Sharipov led the Carroll attack with a goal and an assist, while Altahat added a goal off the bench and Joseph recorded an assist. Escamilla finished with six saves in net to secure the clean sheet as the Pioneers improved to 1-2 on the season.
Carroll was outshot 12-11 overall but held the Falcons scoreless despite facing eight second-half shots and eight corner kicks in the match. The Pioneers also owned a 57-43 advantage in possession.
The Pioneers will look to ride this win into their next matchup against St. Olaf as they travel to Northfield, MN on Tuesday for a 3pm game.
