Jacob Schley was hired as the defensive line coach in February 2021. The Fall 2021 season will mark Schley's first season with the Pioneers.
Schley previously was an assistant coach working with the defensive line at St. Johns University in Minnesota in the Fall of 2020. Prior to that, Schley was a graduate assistant running backs coach at St. Cloud State in Fall 2019, prior to the program being eliminated in Fall 2020. Schley played collegiately at St. Cloud State for four seasons on the defensive line. In 2018, Schley was selected first-team all-NSIC, leading St. Cloud to the No. 32 ranked defense in the country. Schley was third on the team in total tackles (61) that season, with 38 solo and 23 assists credited to him during the year. Additionally, he was second on the team in both sacks (4) and tackles for loss (11) in 2018 and led the team in total yards lost by an opponent (52). With Schley's help, the Huskies defense was the No. 18 rush defense in the country, as they gave up just 103.7 rush yards per game.
Schley received a bachelor's degree in sports management from St. Cloud State in 2019, and is on track for a master’s in education administration and leadership from St. Cloud State to be completed in the Spring of 2021.
