Josh Hurlebaus

Josh Hurlebaus '09 is in his second year as Carroll's Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach for the 2025-26 school year. He accepted the position inĀ August 2024.

In his first year as Head Coach of the Pioneers, Hurlebaus saw six NCAA Division-IIi Championships entries, guiding three student-athletes to All-American status, across five events.

A 2009 graduate of Carroll University, where he earned a B.A. in Religious Studies, Hurlebaus is no stranger to Waukesha or the Carroll community, Prior to his appointment as Head Coach, Hurlebaus spent two years as a Graduate Admission Counselor at Carroll where he collaborated closely with program directors to develop and execute strategic enrollment plans, while also cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders and providing guidance on program marketing and branding. He has also spent two stints as an Assistant Track & Field Coach for the Pios, with the most recent coming during the 2023 season. As an assistant coach, Hurlebaus coached multiple student-athletes to All-American status, with several also becoming NCAA Division-III National qualifiers. he also designed and implemented year-round training programs for multiple event groups, focusing primarily on sprints, jumps, and strength & conditioning, among other duties.

"I am thrilled to return to the Carroll University Athletics Department as the head track & field coach," Hurlebaus said. "As a proud alumnus and former athlete, I'm excited to work with our talented student-athletes and build upon our strong foundation as we continue to grow the program."

As a student-athlete with the Pioneers, HurlebausĀ was a four-time All-American as a sprinter and still holds multiple school and Midwest Conference records. He also competed at the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships in 2011.Ā 

After his time at Carroll, Hurlebaus went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University in 2016. A USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning Certified coach, Hurlebaus is also a Sprint, Hurdle, and Relay Event Specialist and earned an advanced coaching certification in Horizontal Jumps from Altis Track & Field Education Series. He is also Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certified.

A native of Hartland, Wis., Hurlebaus attended Arrowhead High School. He currently resides in Waukesha.
