Biography

Brie Murphy is in her first season as head coach of the Carroll University women’s basketball program.

Murphy arrived at Carroll following two seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. During her time with the Saints, Murphy helped the program compile a 41-22 overall record, highlighted by a Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in 2026 and a conference runner-up finish in 2025.

Maryville posted the best record in program history at 25-7 during Murphy’s tenure and produced eight all-conference selections, including a GLVC Freshman of the Year and the conference’s single-season assist record holder.

At Maryville, Murphy played a key role in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, opponent scouting, film analysis, player development, academic monitoring and game management. She worked extensively with student-athletes through individual skill development and position-specific training while also assisting with travel, scheduling and day-to-day team operations.

Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Murphy served as the varsity girls basketball head coach at Monona Grove High School from 2022-24. She compiled a 36-16 record with the Silver Eagles and led the program to its first regional championship since 2015. Murphy was also selected as a coach for the 2024 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game.

During her two seasons at Monona Grove, Murphy coached eight All-Badger Conference selections and five WBCA All-Star Game participants. She also helped develop Abbey Inda into a 2024 WBCA Honorable Mention All-State selection.

Murphy began her coaching career as a varsity assistant at McFarland High School, where the Spartans posted a 27-13 record during her tenure. She coached nine All-Rock Valley Conference selections at McFarland, including WBCA All-State honorees Teagan Mallegni and Katie Hildebrandt.

Murphy also served as the director and head coach for Let It Rain Basketball, an AAU program based in Madison, Wisconsin, where she oversaw operations for 16 teams and more than 160 athletes. She additionally worked as a basketball trainer and business development manager with I'm Possible Training in Madison, training more than 20 collegiate basketball players.

Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Wisconsin in 2021. As an undergraduate, she served as president of the UW-Madison club basketball program, helped lead the team to a national championship in 2017 and was named the UW-Madison Club Female Athlete of the Year in 2019.
