Guy Gniotczynski (Gin-A-Chin-Ski) ‘03 was named the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach in July of 2020. The 2025-26 season will mark his sixth year as head coach of the program.

Gniotczynski led the Pioneers to one of their most successful seasons in recent memory during the 2024-25 season, garnering 36 lifetime-best times at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships. Other notable finishes at that meet included 25 relay swims which were the fastest in the last seven years, 82 lifetime-best relay splits. Ten swimmers reached the A finals at that meet (up from five the previous year), while 22 Carroll swimmers competed in the B final (up from 12 the previous year). That meet, which saw Carroll record six school record-breaking times, was highlighted by Josie Peterson’s third consecutive conference championship in the 50 freestyle, which saw her break a school record with a time of 23.99. Peterson also broke school records this season in the 100 freestyle (52.67) and 200 freestyle (1:57.36), while Eddie McConnaha broke Carroll’s men’s record in the 100 IM, swimming a time of 54.17 at the conference championships. The teams also combined for five Academic All-District performers.

Gniotczynski is ASCA Level 5 certified and has been coaching since 1999. He returned to Carroll after numerous head coaching stints in the area, including the Head Swim Coach at the YMCA at Pabst Farms Swim Team in Oconomowoc. During the last three years in that role, Gniotczynski saw increases in memberships over 57 percent, and increased the number of swimmers who qualified for YMCA State Championships. At multiple YMCA programs, he has coached over 10 YMCA National Qualifiers.

Gniotczynski has prior collegiate coaching experience in and out of the state of Wisconsin. Gniotczynski served as the Assistant Swim Coach at Willamette University in Salem, Ore., specializing in the recruitment of new swimmers to the program, assisting with creation of wet and dry work out plans, and helping facilitate camps and clinics held by the University. Gniotczynski grew the women’s program by 50 percent in one season and progressed the team up three spots in the conference standings. Gniotcznski earned his master’s degree as the graduate assistant coach at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. in 2010. While with the Carthage programs, the men’s team won back-to-back conference titles, and the women’s team finished in the top ten in the nation with the help of the college’s first NCAA Division-III National Champion.
