Michael Schulist

On Dec. 17th, 2019, Michael Schulist took over the helm of the Pioneer athletic program and is currently in his 19th year at Carroll and seventh as the school's Athletic Director.

As the Pioneers' Athletic Director, Schulist sets the direction and vision for the athletic department’s 23 varsity athletic teams by assisting coaches, managing the athletic budget, overseeing management for sporting events, working closely with Carroll’s advancement office, and coordinating communication with the CCIW conference office.

Prior to taking the athletic director’s role, Schulist served multiple roles within Carroll’s athletic department including oversight of media relations, event management, fundraising, and facility management.

Under Schulist’s leadership, the department raised a record amount of funds which included an overhaul of the annual Pioneer Golf Classic. He also helped launch a new fundraiser in 2018 titled “Toast to Pioneer Women”, which helps support the departments 12 women’s athletic programs.

The Carroll Athletic Department has seen tremendous growth during his tenure. Schulist was instrumental in the launching of a new re-brand of athletics, which included newly designed logos for Carroll’s “C” and Pio Pete. 
 
Schulist has played a role in overseeing large University capital projects related to athletics. Most recently, Schulist assisted in two major projects that enhanced Pioneer athletics, helping to oversee the remodeling of Van Male Field House and helping to facilitate the acquisition and construction of Haertl Field, the school’s second artificial outdoor playing surface.

Schulist is also involved administratively at the national level, having served, or participated on several NCAA programs and committees. Schulist was selected as a class member and competed the prestigious NCAA Pathways Program in 2019.  He’s also served a four-year stint (2014-2017) as national chair of the central region’s NCAA DIII men’s Soccer Championship committee, and most recently finished up a three-year stint as national chair of NCAA DIII Football Championship Committee (2018-2021). 

A 2007 graduate of UW-Parkside, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management, Schulist is a member of the following national organizations: NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics), NADIIIAA (National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators,), while also serving as a board member for the Waukesha YMCA.

Prior to joining Carroll in 2007, Schulist worked as an intern for the Milwaukee Wave and Milwaukee Brewers professional organizations. He currently resides in Sussex, Wis. with his wife Gini, sons Nolan and Cody and daughter Kenley.
