The 2025-26 school year will mark Michael Hodge’s 12th year leading the Pioneers' women's lacrosse program. The only Head Coach in program history, Hodge has been named CCIW 'Coach of the Year' on two occasions (2021 and 2025), leading the team to conference championships in each of those years. In 11 seasons at the helm, Hodge has compiled an overall record of 93-77, which includes a conference mark of 30-29.
Hodge has led the Pioneers to eight consecutive winning seasons, and seven consecutive appearances in the CCIW Tournament, as he has built a tradition of excellence at Carroll. The Pioneers have appeared in the CCIW Tournament Championship Game three times in the last five years, including the program's first-ever CCIW Tournament Championship in 2025.
The 2025 campaign was a banner year for the Pios, completing the first undefeated conference season (5-0) in program history. That advanced Carroll to the 2025 Division-III Women's Lacrosse Tournament, where they would lose to Lake Forest 13-12 in the final seconds. That season also saw the Pioneers win their second CCIW regular season championship, and first outright title.
Carroll's only other CCIW regular season championship came in 2021, which saw the Pios share the title with a 4-1 conference record. That marked the school's first CCIW championship (in any sport) since 1988, and marked the first time in school history that a Carroll women’s team won a CCIW championship. That season also saw Carroll advance to the NCAA Division-III Tournament for the first time in program history, losing 13-8 to Aurora University.
Since 2018, Hodge has led the Pioneers to 87 wins, including a program-best 13 consecutive victories to open the 2018 season. That season also saw significant growth, as the Pioneers finished the season leading the country in ground balls per game. The 2019 team earned Carroll University’s Athletic Department “Team of the Year” award, and after a shortened 2020 season, the 2021 team reached new heights, finishing the season ranked second in the NCAA D-III West Region. The 2024 season saw Hodge lead the Pios to a program-record 14 victories, as the team broke or tied 14 individual and/or team single season records, including most goals (245).
During his tenure, Hodge has coached 31 All-Conference selections, two CCIW Defensive Student-Athletes of the Year, two CCIW First-Year Student-Athletes of the Year, one CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year, five IWLCA All-Region selections and eight CSC Academic All-District student-athletes. Hodge’s teams have also been successful in the classroom, as the Pioneers have earned a spot on IWLCA’s Academic Honor Squad every year (no awards given in 2020), with 14 players being selected for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
Prior to Carroll, Hodge spent two seasons with the State University of New York in Canton. He served as the primary defensive coach for the Roos. Hodge began his coaching career in 2008 with Holy Cross College (Notre Dame, Ind.) after a three year playing career. Additionally, he serves as the girls lacrosse director for the Nike Xcelerate Lacrosse Camp at Carroll University and has worked with numerous club programs throughout southeast Wisconsin.
Hodge resides in Waukesha with his wife Meghan and two daughters Hannah and Henley.
