Box Score (Waukesha, Wis.) - Senior day was special. The four seniors on the Carroll University men's basketball team combined to score 67 points in the final appearance in Van Male Fieldhouse, outscoring their opponents by themselves. Carroll won its 2014 home finale against Monmouth College, 87-64.
The victory improves Carroll to 14-8 overall, 11-6 in the Midwest Conference while Monmouth falls to 6-16 overall, 5-12 in league play.
Here is what the seniors did. Andrew Nottling led all scorers with 24 points for the Pioneers while Kevin Hurd flirted with a triple-double with 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Alec Molter chipped in with 14 points while Christian Shepley added 10 points and seven assists.
Monmouth led 5-0 and 7-4 early on but after that is was all CU. Carroll went into the break leading 48-27 and never looked back. The Fighting Scots pulled to within 15 points early in the second half but Carroll quickly reestablished a 20-plus point lead and cruised the rest of the way.
Carroll, the most efficient shooting team in the country, connected on 61.4% of its shots while limiting the Fighting Scots to 40.7% shooting.
