Box Score (Waukesha, Wis.) - Three rushing touchdowns from Lamont Williams and 229 passing yards from quarterback Kyle Burlingame propelled the Carroll University football team to a crushing 34-6 victory over Benedictine University in the home-opener for the Pioneers.
Carroll's lopsided victory over the Eagles was its second-consecutive dominating performance to start the season. The Pioneers dismantled Lakeland College last Saturday, 33-7.
Burlingame opened the onslaught with a 16 yard touchdown strike to Nick Curtis at 6:31 of the opening quarter while Williams scored his first rushing TD of the day with 22 seconds remaining in the first half to give CU the 14-0 lead the break.

Benedictine closed the gap to 14-6 early in the third quarter but the Pioneers closed out the game with three unanswered touchdowns. Williams scored on runs of one and six yards sandwiched around a 24 yard scamper from Burlingame.

Carroll's defense once again came up big with three quarterback sacks and two interceptions from Dan Verhagen and Kyle Banta. Verhagen also finished with a game-best 11 solo tackles.

Carroll, 2-0 on the season, returns to action Sept. 20 when they travel to Lake Forest College for the Midwest Conference opener. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. The Foresters enter Saturday's contest at 1-1 on the season.
