Box Score (Sheboygan, Wis.) - Carroll University's Lamont Williams returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown and added a 73 yard rushing touchdown to lead the Pioneers to a convincing 33-7 non-conference victory over Lakeland College in the season opener.

Following a scoreless first period, the Pioneers opened the second quarter with a pair of touchdown passes from Kyle Burlingame to take a 13-0 lead. The Muskies closed the gap to 13-7 with a score at 4:38 of the second quarter but Williams returned the ensuing kickoff 81 yards for a score that quickly halted all Lakeland momentum.

Williams added his 73 yard rushing touchdown at 7:47 of the third quarter to extend CU's lead to 26-7. Daniel Arden capped off the scoring with a 36 yard rushing touchdown at 13:17 of the fourth quarter.

Carroll dominated the Muskies in all facets of the game. The Pioneers amassed 422 yards of total offense while LC mustered just 270 yards.

Williams rushed 15 times for 118 yards and added 117 yards on two kickoff returns. Burlingame was an efficient 11-of-16 in the air for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Kevin Jennings finished as CU's top receiver, hauling in seven passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Dan Verhagen and Adam Bray led CU's always-dominant defense. The pair recorded seven tackles each.
