(Lisle, Ill.) - The Carroll University football team overcame a 13-0 halftime deficit to earn a 21-13 come-from-behind victory at Benedictine University. The hosts scored a 4-yard touchdown pass at 3:53 of the first quarter and made it 13-0 when they intercepted a Carroll pass and returned it for a touchdown at 11:07 of the second quarter.
Carroll head coach Mark Krzykowski and his squad regrouped at halftime and came out blazing on both sides of the ball.
The comeback started at 10:17 of the third quarter when Kyle Burlingame connected with Daniel Arden for a 22 yard pass play. Burlingame struck again later in the quarter (3:53) when he found Connor O'Donoghue for a 21 yard touchdown reception.
Arden then secured the victory with a two yard rushing touchdown with 6:03 to play.
Burlingame finished the day completing 22-of-32 pass attempts for 212 yards. Arden carried the ball 13 times for 59 yards while Kevin Jennings caught a team-best 10 passes for 102 yards.
Tyler Aerts guided CU's defense. He finished with nine tackles and a first quart6er interception.
Carroll returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Monmouth College for the Midwest Conference opener.
