(Waukesha, Wis.) – Kyle Keranen scored 26 and Joel Heesch added 15 points off the bench to lead the Carroll University men's basketball team to an 87-76 Midwest Conference victory over Beloit College.
The Pioneers shot 60% from the field for the game, including an 11-of-18 performance from three-point land. The hot-shooting Keranen hit nine of his 12 field goal attempts, including 5-of-8 triples.
Ben Widdes chipped in with 13 points for Carroll with Bryan Nagy adding 11 points, nine rebounds and six steals.
Beloit's Steve McAfee led all scorers with 31 points.
Carroll held a 42-28 lead at the break and extended to as much as a 20 point lead early in the second half but Beloit clawed their way back and cut the lead to nine points with 3:52 to play.
The Pioneers responded with a 6-0 run to push the lead back to double digits for the remainder of the game.
Carroll, 14-2 overall, 9-1 in the MWC, returns to action Saturday when they host St. Norbert College.
