Pioneers make strides in own triangular

Carroll avoids sweeps in dual losses to No. 22 UW-Oshkosh and Lakeland

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's volleyball team fell short in back-to-back nonconference duals during its own triangular at Van Male Field House on Tuesday.
Carroll, which dropped to 7-21 overall, lost its opener to No. 22-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16) and to Lakeland University (17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22) in the late tournament finale.
Junior outside hitter Dana Voltolina (St. Charles, Ill.) contributed a team-high 14 kills and two blocks for Carroll against high-powered UW-Oshkosh, claiming a spirited, hard-fought victory in the second set to even the match. Sophomore outside hitter Josie Wierzal (Frankfort, Ill.) had nine kills while freshman middle blocker Erika Dunnam (Shawano, Wis.) collected nine kills and four blocks for the Pioneers. Freshmen setters Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) each had 22 assists with freshman outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) adding 13 digs for the Pioneers.
Sophomore middle blocker Karley Wolf (Roselle, Ill.) had a team-leading 12 kills and three service aces to pace Carroll versus Lakeland. Dunnam followed with 10 kills and five blocks, Voltolina also had 10 kills, sophomore libero Rachel Harn (Freeport, Ill.) contributed 24 digs, sophomore outside hitter Amanda Hahn (Itasca, Ill.) had 22 digs, Mrotek contributed 16 digs with Przeslicke rounding out the list of top contributors with 23 assists and two aces.
